Some information about plastic surgery

Medicine has not yet found medicines delaying the natural ageing processes occurring in a human body. Although the inventing such medicines is likely only to be a matter of time, the popularity of cosmetology and aesthetically focused surgery is still growing. You cannot go back on the past, but traces of the passage of time may be covered and touched up, and defects in beauty may be corrected and adjusted to the latest fashions.

For centuries, people have made use of various methods to improve their mood. Correcting beauty is one of these, but for plastic surgeons it is only a criterion which facilitates their work. The aim is not beauty itself, but functions it performs. Correction of beauty is justified, if its results make a person happy and improve his/her mood.

Thus, the question whether beauty brings happiness refers to each and every patient and physician. Health and happiness are inseparable. A plastic surgeon engaged in aesthetically focused surgery is still a physician. His agenda is the good and health of the patient. Thus, a decision on the treatment is not taken only by the patient. If the patient has no confidence in the physician's skills or is not able to communicate with him, he/she should seek help elsewhere. Good communication and confidence are conditions of success in all fields of medicine.

Aesthetically focused surgery is not equivalent to good health. The treatment may result in the improving or regaining of self-confidence, but it never has any direct effect on the patient's future. In other words, personal success does not depend on changes in one's appearance. Much as many do not instinctively agree with the above opinion, it is borne out by the experience of thousands of patients who have undergone these types of operations. Aesthetically focused operations are never entirely necessary! It is best to treat them as an expensive and often risky luxury.

There are many ways of correcting one's beauty. The dramatic improvement expected after the operation is always subjective. Not everyone will like the final result. The result will sometimes fall short of one's expectations, and one has to remember that results once achieved cannot be reversed. They may only be corrected by assuming another risk. There are always costs. Although the price for an operation may be outcome connected, suffering and pain are a fixed price and are not related to the final result. You should not decide to undergo an operation, if you are not sure that this is what you really want. It is better to take care of your beauty far away from plastic surgery clinics. But you can always ask for a specialist's consultation. An operation will wait.

Each operation may cause complications. Although there are thousands of plastic surgery operations performed each day all over the world, complications do occur. The experience of a physician cannot guarantee successful healing. Neither is it a guarantee of success. Operations performed in the best possible conditions and with the best attention to detail can be unsuccessful, or simply unlucky. The risk of complications is there from the beginning of the procedure, when the patient is anaesthetised. They can occur both during operation and the healing. They accompany even minor operations. If a physician tells you that there is no risk of any complications, this means that he is either misleading you or not operating himself. If he has not experienced any complications so far, this does not mean that he will not experience them in your case. You must familiarise yourself with medical complications typical for the operation you ask for and discuss them with your surgeon. You must not be afraid. Complications are not a part of everyday life, but if they occur, it is better to be prepared and be ready to counteract them rather than simply be taken aback. Even a simple infection will last for a short time, if a patient reacts well and co-operates.
